NZ Football in conjunction with Mainland Football are excited to announce Girls and Women's Football Month in March!
This is a nationwide campaign to celebrate and grow the involvement of women and girls in football. This is an awesome opportunity for your club to showcase its support for girls'and women’s football, attract new members, and celebrate the contributions of your amazing players, coaches, referees, and volunteers.

Football Fun
Where: Nga Puna Wai

Calling all girls who love football or want to give it a try!
MBFC and Mainland Football are teaming up to run an exciting afternoon of football fun for Girls and Mums.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, make friends, and have a blast playing the beautiful game!

NZF Open ID Session
Where: English Park
When: Wednesday 26 & Thursday 27 February
Time: Wed 7.30 pm& Thurs 3.30pm
Cost: FREE
NZF is hosting an Open ID Session at English Park, and we’re inviting female youth coaches to get involved as Scouts. This is a great opportunity to learn more about talent identification, engage in the scouting process alongside NZF staff, and provide feedback on players.
Pre-Event Zoom Call – Wednesday 26th Feb, 7.30 pm (link will be sent after registration close date)
Learn about the ID process, watch video examples, and explore NZF’s evolving female pathway.
ID Session – Thursday 27th Feb, from 3.30pm at English park.
This is a valuable opportunity for coaches at all levels—whether you want to learn more about scouting, deepen your understanding of the pathway, or see your players in a new light.

Have-a-go at Futsal
Where: Nga Puna Wai
When: Thursday 27 Feb & Thursday 6 March
Time: 6.00-7.00pm
Who: Girls aged 5-12 year old
Cost: FREE
Join us for a free event for girls and boys to try futsal!
Led by experienced coaches and players from the Pride & Dragons Futsal Teams, this is a great way to build skills, play games, and meet new futsal friends.
You'll get to meet the Pride Futsal players and there will be lots of giveaways and prizes!
There is also a chance to become a Ball Kid & Mascot for the upcoming Super League Games (Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 March).

Milo Fantails Festival
Where: English Park, Cranford St
When: Sunday 9 March
Time: 9:00-11:00am
Who: Girls aged 4-12 years old + families and friends.
Cost: FREE
A celebration of girls in football as part of Girls and Women’s Football Month. This event is open to all girls aged 5–12, whether you’ve never kicked a ball before or already love the game.
The festival is all about having fun, making new friends, and enjoying football in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. With games, skills sessions, and giveaways, it’s the perfect way to experience what Fantails is all about and connect with your local football club.
Bring a friend, or come along and meet new ones – we can’t wait to see you there!

Juniors and Milo Fantails Coach Clinic
Where: English Park, Cranford St

Time: 11:30am-1:30pm
Who: 13 years +

Led by Alana Gunn (NZ Football Women's U17 & U16 Coach), this session is perfect for current Fantails coaches to complete their Junior Level 1 requirement. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for any women and girls interested in starting their coaching journey in a fun and supportive environment.
Whether you’re looking to learn, refresh, or connect with others, this is a great chance to grow your coaching skills and confidence.

Learn to Ref

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a referee? Join us for a fun event designed to introduce more females to refereeing!
This session will teach you the basics of using flags and cards while sharing inspiring stories from women and girls already officiating matches. It’s a great opportunity to meet others who share your passion for the game, learn new skills, and have fun along the way.
Whether you’re curious about getting started or just want to give it a go, this is your chance to step onto the field and explore what refereeing is all about.

Fantails is growing, with four new clubs now delivering the programme in their local communities: Halswell United AFC, Nomads United AFC, Ferrymead Bays FC, and Ōtakaro FC.
Cashmere Technical FC are also back delivering again this year! This means more chances for girls to play football in a fun, supportive, girls-only environment.
