Chatham Cup Continues With Major Milestone For 'Murph'  

The Chatham Cup continues this weekend with eight ties being play around the Mainland region, including two all-Southern League match-up with Ferrymead Bays Chris Murphy expected to reach the major milestone of playing his 400th 1st team appearance for Bays.

On Friday evening at the United Sports Centre, former Cup holders, Christchurch United take on Parklands, who are currently second in the New World Premiership at 7pm.
 
The all Southern League clashes take place on Saturday at 2pm with Nomads hosting Bays at Tulett Park, with Bays winning their recent league encounter 2 - 1 after Nomads led at the break.
 
Cashmere Technical have the home advantage at Garrick Memorial Park again Selwyn with the two playing out a exciting league game at Foster Park a month ago with Technicial, the last local side to lift the Cup, needing a late goal to take the win 2 - 1.
 
Also a 2pm Halswell United, who top the New World Premiership, take on FC Twenty11 at Halswell Domain in what should be and interesting match-up. At English Park New World Premiership sides Universities and Waimak go head-to-head at 3pm with the two sharing the points in a 3 - 3 result in early April. On Sunday at midday Coastal Spirit take on Burwood at Linfield Park.
 
In north of the Mainland Football region Motueka play FC Nelson at Memorial Park at 2pm and on Sunday at the Blenheim A & P Showgrounds Central take on Nelson Suburbs at 2pm.
 
The remaining South Island ties see Queenstown meeting Wanaka at the Queenstown Events Centre, Mosgiel facing North Hearts Grant Braes at Memorial Park, Northern squaring off with Roslyn Wakari at Logan Park and at the Football Turf in Invercargill, Thistle entertain Grant Braes - these four games being play on Saturday, with Dunedin City Royals, Green Island, Otago Universities and Invercargill's Queens Park all having the bye. 


 
'Take Two' In SQL
It is a case of 'take two' in the Women's South Island Qualifying League when Nelson Suburbs and face Cashmere Technical at Saxton Field on Sunday at midday after heavy rain in the Nelson Region saw the game postponed last weekend.
 
Both teams are locked together on the table, each with two wins and a draw from their three games and both know that third win will all but guarantee them spot in the up-coming six team Southern League so a tight game is likely.

Kate Sheppard Cup Under For Local Sides

The Kate Sheppard Cup is also underway with one tie having already been played on Wednesday evening with Cashmere Technical knocking-out FC Nomads 7 - 1.

On Saturday at English Park Coastal Spirit SAS take on Universities at midday, with Halswell Christchurch United having drawn the bye. On Wednesday evening Nelson Suburbs face Richmond at Trafalgar Park. 
 
Nomads went into their tie against Technical missing several players due to illness with Aimee Phillips putting Tech ahead before Emma Kench added a second for both players then scoring again before the break. Charlotte Roche then completed a hat-trick on the opening 15 minutes of the second half with Nomads having the final say when Sarah Summerlee scored in the final few minutes.
 
Down south Northern face Mosgiel and Dunedin City Royals met Green Island at midday on Saturday with Otago University and Roslyn Wakari having byes.
